About Me
I am a historian of early modern medicine and culture. After teaching for many years at the University of Cagliari, I am now CNRS Research Professor at IHMC in Paris, France. I have worked on the history of science and natural philosophy in Catholic context, on medicine and religion, on the history of surgery and pathological anatomy. Recent publications include Sudden Death. Medicine and Religion in 18th-Century Rome (2010); Médecine et religion: compétitions, collaborations, conflits XIIe-XXe siècles (ed. 2013), and Medicine and the Inquisition in the Early Modern World (ed. 2019).
