About Me
Lea Beiermann is a PhD candidate in the History Department at Maastricht University and a member of the MUSTS research group (Maastricht University Science, Technology & Society Studies). Her PhD project, funded by NWO (Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek), looks at the history of microscopy in the mid- and late nineteenth century. Her research investigates how circulating scientific artefacts enabled microscopists to collaborate across national and disciplinary boundaries. Lea holds a BA in Creative Writing and Journalism (with distinction) and a Research MSc in Cultures of Arts, Science and Technology (cum laude).
